Built by peers, for peer careers

Our work begins with lived experience, develops professional peer identity, and supports advancement into areas such as peer support, community health, outreach, resource navigation, care coordination, and workforce development.

We do not recruit broadly for every behavioral health occupation. The starting point is always lived experience, and the destination is always a professional peer career with somewhere to go.

We develop the workforce model and deliver the services: training, mentorship, nonclinical peer supervision, and the employer relationships that turn preparation into real work. The whole model is built on the conviction that lived experience is a qualification, one worth developing, supervising, and advancing like any other.

The Empower Collective was founded by individuals with lived experience navigating mental health challenges and addiction within families, communities, and service systems. That perspective informs a peer-led approach grounded in dignity, choice, and autonomy: support is offered, not imposed, and every person defines the terms of their own progress.

What became clear from the inside is that the field has an entry problem and a retention problem at the same time. People with exactly the right experience cannot get in, because a certification fee, a bus route, or a laptop stands in the way. And those who do get in often leave, because nobody mentors them, nobody supervises them in a nonclinical frame, and nothing comes next.

So we built for both ends of the problem: preparing people thoroughly enough to get in, and supporting them well enough to stay. The aim is to make a peer career something a person can actually enter, survive, and grow within, here, in the communities we come from.
